Cari Silverwood a few words

So have you read any Cari Silverwood books? I have i read Seize Me From Darkness, this story was dark and erotic and you can read my review on this site over at this link

So here are a few words from the author about heroes in novels who can still be assholes, which is a term i feel should be banded around more often (lol), and below are links to her work

Asshole heroes
How much asshole do you like in your asshole heroes? Fifty percent? A hundred? It’s a question I’ve been contemplating lately because there seems a large number of asshole heroes in dark erotic stories. I mean, let’s face it, when the guy starts out by kidnapping the woman then dragging her back to his lair there’s a high chance he’s not going to be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. He might get Bachelor of the Year but that’s only because kidnappers are good at manipulating the system.
If there’s one small problem with this, it’s that my men don’t tend to follow the trend. I like to have them showing their good side at the beginning of the book and it’s only after that nice start that they descend into a state of mind where defiling the heroine seems justified. To me it’s dead easy to show reasons why an evil man would decide to do terrible and nonconsensual things to the heroine. Figuring out why a good-ish man would do those same things – that’s a puzzle I love to solve.
Writing a bad man doing bad things is the equivalent of writing about why apples fall to the ground. As well, I have this thing where I detest giving up my heroines to truly bad men. These men need to earn her devotion, her love…or her slavery, whichever it is that happens. If the men are too damn evil, I get an urge to exterminate them partway through the story.
Which is funny, since I can definitely read about assholes in other people’s stories doing the raping, pillaging and enslaving – it seems I just don’t like to write them into mine.
What percentage of asshole do you like in the men in your dark stories? Would you be game to walk up to them in real life and date them or at least say hello?
When I began writing Seize me From Darkness, I knew I was writing the most asshole-ish of all my main characters. Pieter still begins as a good guy. How does he transform from that into someone I’d be reluctant to spend the night with even if I had a SWAT team outside the bedroom window? He does it with a certain amount of flair, a hefty dose of kick in the door and drag her out by the hair, and a big dose of assholery.
If dark books keep going like this, assholes will take over the world in 2015.

Ace’s Redemption – A.C. Bextor

Ace's Redemption Book Cover Ace's Redemption
Devil;s Despair #1
A.C. Bextor
contemporary romance
2nd October 2014

Memories alone can ruin you. Fear has a paralyzing effect, and love isn’t always enough to keep you safe.
Ace was the gateway to a freedom I hadn’t known since I was fifteen. He offered his protection from the demons that haunted me; both living and dead.
Although I knew I wasn’t enough to keep him, this didn’t deter my hope that one day he’d love me for who I was, not the broken girl he tried so desperately to save.
In the end, the ghosts of my past found me. Their malevolence knew no bounds, and I was forced to succumb to their will of darkness. Each threat named against those I loved made any escape impossible; choosing my life for theirs became my desolate absolution.
Inevitably, it was my own weakness and self-doubt that became my undoing.
Emotional ties are sometimes severed. Friendships don’t always endure their hardships, and love offered isn’t always returned.
I was in love once. For me, leaving her back in Ohio was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. For her, moving on with her life that included her son and the man she loved was no less than she deserved — unconditional happiness.
My reasons to bring Cherry home to California were obvious. I needed help with my family, and she needed help staying clean and convincing her parents she was ready to give her son the life he deserved.
It was a perfect plan. However, the best laid plans often get lost amidst their best intentions.
Cherry fell in love with me, and in return my love for her acted as the catalyst to her destruction.
Authors Note: This novel contains material that is not suitable for individuals under the age of 18. Content includes: drug use, explicit language, violence, rape, and other scenarios with content that readers may find offensive. Please use caution when deciding on this book, as every reader has the right to understand the product before purchase.
Ace’s Redemption is the first standalone novel in the Devil’s Despair series. Although the main character of Ace was introduced during the Lights of Peril trilogy, you do not need to read that series in order to follow this one.

So in my spare time of reading i beta read for authors and i was so lucky to have been able to beta for A.C Bextor for two of her novels, and i loved both but Ace’s Redemption was my fave as i fell in love with Ace and Cherry. So here is my review of the book now that it has been published.

We first met Ace and Cherry in the book entitled Holding On (Light’s of Peril book 1), and both of these characters have been through some tough times in Holding On, but now we see them trying to make a fresh start and better themselves. Ace and Cherry have a love hate relationship that simmers with sexual tension. But the past is a dangerous thing and it can destroy your future as Cherry unwittingly finds out she cannot run or hide from hers. Even if that means abandoning your old and new families. I loved Ace he is so alpha but with a heart of gold shining just below the surface and Cherry is the woman ho keeps him on his toes, the complete opposite to the sickly sweet Sadey he pines after and thinks he needs in his life and who he loves. I felt the simmering sexual tension smoking up my kindle and felt the heartbreak these characters felt. Be it from their past lives or trying to create a better future for themselves be it together or apart. In addition to Cherry and Ace i have to say the supporting characters kept me amused with their antics and their revelations and i loved the ending of this book concerning one of them 🙂 but i am not going to spoil it for you by telling you who it was. Let me add finally how much the bad guys of this story are so twisted and depraved, this includes family members of Cherry how someone could do or say those things about another family member is beyond me. If you have read the Light’s of Peril series you will be pleased to know some regulars from that series pop up in this story. A.C. Bextor was not an author i had heard of before i beta read the first of two novels for her, but i am so glad i have been introduced to her mc series work, and Ace is a man who i hold dear to my heart now, i loved his story during the beat read and in the finished product even more. Congratualtions A.C. Bextor on a new fan to your work 🙂

About The Author
I love to read! I will read anything, literally. It may be a magazine, book, advertisement or even a cereal box. Specific authors that I follow have moved me to start writing. Before long that inspiration had produced a final product that I wasn’t even sure what I was going to do with. Obviously I hit publish and here I am.
Blessed with a great family that includes my husband, four kids, two dogs, and one hedgehog, I’ve lived in the Midwest all of my life. We currently live in a small town outside of Omaha, NE. My day job affords the ability to work from home and I’ve worked for the same lending company for nearly 19 years.
When I’m not reading, I try to be outside as much as possible even if it is just sitting on my deck with my reading device. I enjoy fishing, swimming, hockey games, and watching football with the family.

Merciless Ride Book Cover Merciless Ride
Hellions Ride #3
Chelsea Cameron
10th October 2014

Mercy is no friend of mine. Karma, she has yet to show kindness to me.
The hits just keep on coming for Tessie Marie Harlow. She has never had an easy life. Her mom disabled, her dad long gone, and a single mom raising a rambunctious little boy, that’s Tessie’s world.
Her childhood aspirations to be a nurse long since disappeared after a college spring fling both blessed and cursed her with a baby boy. Dropping out of school, she returns to her hometown and begins to settle in. Getting the only job she could as a bartender she spends her days caring for her son and nights serving the Hellions Motorcycle Club and their affiliates.
Tired of waiting for Rex to grow up she’s faced with the bane existence of her life until one night changes everything. In the darkest hour of her merciless ride through life, she’s saved by a quiet, laid back Hellion.
Andy ‘Shooter’ Jenkins has always been around. Too wrapped in Rex she’s never really noticed him before. He has never been loud or known to have the girls hanging all over him. He is a mystery. A chance encounter brings him to her rescue not once but twice.
The Desert Ghosts Motorcycle Club are in town and bring their own brand of chaos right to Tessie’s door. Forced into her day to day life, Shooter is doing everything he can to shelter and protect her as lines are crossed and a war between two clubs begins.
Secrets revealed putting two brothers in the Hellions Motorcycle Club at a serious crossroads in their lives.
This is not a ride for pleasure. This is not a ride for safety. This is not a ride for love. This is a ride for survival. Mercy has never once shined her grace down for these two, but in the midst of the danger and lies can they learn to rely on one another and ride it out together?

This book contains strong language, strong sexual situations, violence and is not suitable for readers under the age of 18. Please do not buy if any of this offends you. This is a work of fiction and is not meant to be a true or exact depiction of a motorcycle club but rather a book meant to entertain.

Home No More Book Cover Home No More
Leddy Harper

Here is the cover for Home No More by Leddy Harper a book i will be reviewing in the near future. But to keep you excited until then here is the blurb for the book…

My name is Kendall Carrington—or so I thought.

One night, a routine traffic stop turned the world I thought I knew upside down. I wasn’t who I thought I was. No one was. I had been kidnapped when I was young, and everything I had been told was all a lie. But the lies didn’t end there. If it hadn’t been for Lincoln Hunt, I might not have ever found out the truth.

My real name is Danielle Tucker.

This is my story of pain, betrayal, and finding the true meaning of home.

save me teaser 2

Save Me – Natasha Preston

Save Me Book Cover Save Me
Natasha Preston
new adult, contemporary romance
7th October

Tegan Pennells used to care about everything: family, friends, boys, school, and music. But then her dad died and that stopped.
She doesn’t care about her relationship with her mum and sister. She doesn’t care that she’s pushed away most of her friends. She doesn’t care that she lost her virginity to her friend’s brother in the backseat of his car. She doesn’t care that she uses men, or what people think about her friends with benefits agreement with Kai, a guy she met in a bar.
Tegan doesn’t care about the man that received her father’s heart. And she doesn’t want to care about that man’s son.
She doesn’t want to care about anything ever again.

I have read two other Natasha Preston books before they are Silence and Broken Silence and both where equally emotional and made you think deeply about the situations the characters are in. Save Me is no exception, from the very start you are literally catapulted into a deeply upsetting and emotional situation that no-one would ever wish to experience. The way the first couple of chapters are written are heart wrenching and suck you straight into the tale of Tegan, Lucas and Kai. I do not want to give you all the details as the blurb here is more than enough, but it will also ruin the story for you. The journey we take with Tegan is one of discovery and acceptance of life when it is outside of our control.
Tegan is a character that i loved reading and i felt like i really understood why she acted the way she did, even though it caused her to hurt others and herself, sometimes time and the right people are the only way to work through such emotional situations she has had to deal with. Lucas had the best intentions in the world but to me as a reader Kai may be the ‘bad boy’ and the path of mischief but he was the true hero of the story. I felt the despair Tegan was going through at the turning point in the story concerning her recovery and i loved the final few chapters as we see who she has become and her life now. This book was a great book to review and at times i did feel like i had been through the emotional ringer but all for a reason and it stayed with you long after you shut the book for the night, or in my case in the car before i go and start work for the day. I longed to get back to it each night after work and continue reading the story. Natasha Preston is a writer who throws all the emotions you can think of into a book from hurt, love, sadness, despair and romance, she can also write some extremely hot scenes as well as the tender moments between the characters especially Kai and Tegan.Hearst and flowers this story is not, but it is so tender and raw that you will most certainly enjoy the story i feel.
