No Turning Back by Tiffany Snow

No Turning Back
The Kathleen Turner Series #1
Tiffany Snow
romantic suspense

Kathleen Turner just wants a quiet life and to keep paying her rent. Unfortunatley after falling into teh lap of her boss Blane a attractive lawyer Kathleen's life soon starts to unravel. Not only is she attacked and begins to fall in love but does she love Blane and can she trust him or anyone new who are arriving in her life. Book 1 in the Katheleen Turner series

I picked this book to read as it was on offer on amazon and what a good thing i did! This book is full of action, suspense and more importantly romance between kathleen and two brothers. Kathleen Turner is the every woman we all want to be add into the mix she is described as a gorgeous woman and has the ability ot make men fall at her feet. The situations she finds herself in with Blane and Kade are enough to set your kindle on fire. This is only book one and having read all the series i can tell you you will want to read the remaining four books.
If you love this book and Tiffany’s style of writing let me also recommend Blank Slate, and Turn on a Dime which is Blane’s POV and at present we are also awaiting the release of Kade’s POV in August 2014.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Starring: Chris Pine, Keira Knightey, Kevin Costner, Kenneth Branagh
Released: 2014
Director: Kenneth Branagh
This is the fourth reincarnation of the onscreen character of Jack Ryan this time played by Chris Pine. We have previously had Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin and Ben Affleck. Shadow Recruit fills in the gaps from watching the previous movies and it shows us how Jack met and fell in love with his wife Cathy.
Kenneth Branagh directs the movie and stars as the Russian villan, he has the right amount of menacing and cunning to get just under Jacks skin to thwart his attempts to protect his country.
Chris Pine is a worthy successor to the previous actors who have played Jack Ryan, he has the action credentials and has the emotions to show how he is feeling in his new role for the CIA.
I really enjoyed this movie and hope a follow up starring the same characters is going to come out in the future.

His Paris Affair by Christina Ow

I received this book as an arc for a review, and i must say that having never read anything by Christina Ow before i really loved her writing style and the story. I would have given it 4 stars if i had read the other books in the series before this one. However do not let that stop you from reading this book it can most definitley be read as a stand alone novel. The description of Paris was so rich and full of description that i now have to visit this city at some point to see if it is as described.

The story is told from the POV of both lead characters Melody and Ruiz. Ruiz the male lead was just the right blend of alpha male but also had a side to him that he didnt let be shown, except to the reader. Melody meanwhile is a character who falls in love fast and does not know how to connect what emotions of the heart she experineces with those of the head and what is occurring around her. An ideal summer holiday read, and i will most certainly be reading more of Christina’s work in the future.

Mason by Tijan

Fallen Crest

Mason Kade is not known to be nice. He is ruthless, manipulative, and unforgiving. Most will say that he is an a**hole and he is to those that cross him or cross his loved ones. However, he does not want to be who he is. He does not enjoy hurting others, but there is no limit to the lengths he will go to protect himself and his brother. This is the story of how he came to be and this is why so many love Mason Kade.

This is the story of how the character Mason Kade became the man we have become familair with in Tijan’s Fallen Crest series (Fallen Crest high,Family,Public). For the readers who already know Mason this gives us an interesting insight into what he has experienced in life. To those who have never read the Fallen Crest series, this could be a chance to see Mason’s POV and to begin your worship of the man who has many fans from reading Fallen Crest.

Godzilla (2014)

Godzilla (2014) Book Cover Godzilla (2014)

Starring: Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen
Director: Gareth Edwards

Gareth Edwards directed the movie Monsters, in iwe really did not see much of the fore mentioned monsters, just passing glimpses. The same is true to a degree for Godzilla as we do not see him, only flashes of his backs scales until we really need to.This though is good it ramps up the tension, all the monster cries we hear and ground shaking experinced on screen adds to the mystery of this monster. However to call him a monster would be wrong- watch the movie and judge this for yourself.

It is a shame Bryan Cranston is not in the movie more, his grief stricken and slightly obsessive character was a intersting side to the plot. Elizabeth Olsen was a refreshing female lead, she could do with more screen time, as i really enjoyed her interaction with her husband Ford (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). Aaron certainly added on the muscle for the role of Ford and he plays the two sides if his character with ease both military man and family man. It was refreshing to see him away from the role of Kick-Ass which i am more used to. This movie was released in the first wave if summer blockbusters, and starts the ball rolling well for a summer of great movies.
