Cattenach Ranch #1

Blurb

Nearly the last remaining member of Olivia Cattenach’s family has just died overseas and left her overcome by grief. But when a soldier shows up at her ranch with a final message from her brother, she finds new purpose. Nathan Roldan is as formidable as they come. Bulging muscles and inked to boot, he looks like every bit the bad boy he claims to be. Except, under his shuttered gaze and behind his walls lies a gentle giant. Determined to carry out her brother’s wishes, she chips away at Nate’s layers and discovers more pain than any person should ever have to endure. And a passion she never dreamed was possible.

He’s not the hero she thinks he is…

Nate’s mistake got a fellow comrade killed, and a deathbed promise to take care of the guy’s sister lands him in Wyoming with the hope of redemption. But he wasn’t expecting…her. Beautiful, witty, and sweet, Olivia is everything he doesn’t deserve. Born a nothing, he’ll die a nothing. Though guilt is a living thing, temptation is too hard to resist. Somehow, she’s unleashing his restraint and unearthing feelings he buried long ago. He wants her. More, he’s worried he needs her. She’s trying to save him, but when she learns the truth, he’ll lose the only happiness he’s ever known.

I Knew You Where Trouble – Lauren Layne

I Knew You Were Trouble Book Cover I Knew You Were Trouble
Oxford #4

13th June 2017

Taylor Carr has it all—a sleek job in advertising, a stunning Manhattan apartment, and the perfect man to share it with: Bradley Calloway. Even after Bradley dumps her for a co-worker on move-in day, Taylor isn’t worried. She’ll get her man eventually. In the meantime, she needs a new roommate. Enter Nick Ballantine, career bartender, freelance writer—and longtime pain in Taylor’s ass. Sexy in a permanent five-o’clock-shadow kind of way, Nick knows how to push Taylor’s buttons, as if he could see right through to the real her.

Nick’s always trying to fix people, and nobody could use a good fixing more than Taylor. Sure, she’s gorgeous, with mesmerizing silver eyes, but it’s her vulnerability that kills him. Now that they’re shacking up together, the chemistry is out of control. Soon they’re putting every part of their two-bedroom apartment to good use. Then Taylor’s ex comes crawling back to her, and Nick figures she’ll jump at the chance to go back to her old life—unless he fights for the best thing that ever happened to him.

Review – When you think you have everything worked out and all going to plan life throws you a spanner into the machinery. Taylor our female lead gets an all mighty spanner thrown into her machinery in the shape of sexy Nick. These two have witty banter together and a sort of mutual understanding over what roommates should be. But we all know a romance story does not go that way and i loved the sexy times that we got to read, sweet and also at times very sexy. A very easy and enjoying book to read over a quiet weekend at home, that left me looking round for a roommate like Nick and what skills he can provide 😉 well worth a read, not my fave book in the authors work, but by no means one you should avoid

I’m sorry for your loss.
Why do people say that?
When someone you love is taken from you, when a part of you dies along with them, you haven’t lost them like you would your car keys or mobile phone. They aren’t stuck down the side of the sofa or left in the ignition of your car for you to find later. You haven’t absentmindedly put them somewhere and forgotten. You will never lose them because they live in you.
The soul crushing hurt that burns your lungs with every breath you take comes from knowing where they are and not being with them.
The ugly and real definition of grief is being left behind.
I’m sorry they left you.
I’m sorry you are alone.
I’m sorry it hurts to breathe.
Loss; it doesn’t even compare.
She was my first love.
She is my last love.
I am an empty husk who pretends to be filled with enough love for those of us she left behind.
Our little girl and newborn son need me.
I am both mother and father now.
I am hollow and empty.
I am a shell.
So why does the girl with the face of an angel and eyes that mirror my emptiness, look at me like I’m her everything?

Author Bio

ES Carter lives in Cardiff, South Wales. The home of castles, dragons and folklore.
Her family joke that she was born with a book in her hand, and the urge to write stories soon followed.
At eleven, she won her school’s literary prize. At ages fourteen to sixteen – her poetry phase after falling in love with Dylan Thomas and e.e. cummings – she had a few poems published, but life, love and family overtook her dreams, and she was in her thirties when she began the scary journey of self-publishing.
Her debut and internationally best-selling series, ‘Love by Numbers’, are a set of interconnected stand alone romances, all with varying themes of love. From second-chance to romantic comedy and M/M romance. These stories do not need to be read in order, in fact, she is often guilty of advising readers to start at the last book and work their way back through.
Contemporary romance is not the only genre she writes, her second series, ‘The Red Order’, is as dark and twisted as you can get, but there is beauty there too if you can open your eyes and look.
With many more stories bursting to be set free, she hopes you stay along for the ride.

Wicked Things – Callie Hart

Wicked Things Book Cover Wicked Things
Chaos & Ruin #3
Callie Hart
7th June 2017

“This is the reason I called her my angry girl in the first place. I was teasing her back then, but the truth of the matter is that she impressed me. She blew me away with her strength of character and her fire. She’s not just angry. She’s fierce. She’s determined. She’s strong. She’s brave as f#*$. She is everything she needs to be in order to withstand being in love with a man like me, and I am eternally grateful for that fact.”

Zeth Mayfair is on a mission to take care of business in New York. The only problem? The Babieri family seem intent on taking care of him. Permanently.

Sloane Romera’s just beginning to wrap her head around the idea of being a mother. When she’s shoved into the back of a black panel van without so much as the chance to scream, she finally realizes she’ll do whatever it takes to protect the growing child inside her.

And when Zeth finds out what’s happened to his Angry Girl…

…Seattle had better prepare for fireworks.

Review – This series is action packed and it continues into this 3rd book. The danger and suspense mix perfectly with the hot and sexy romance of Zeth and Sloane. Callie has done it again she has created a series of books that have kept me hooked and wishing i could meet a man, hardly likely in the area i live lol. I do not want to ruin the story for you, but obviously you need to read the other books in the series, but trust me Zeth is a man who will give many of your book boyfriends a run for that title. Action packed and heart pounding

Thirteen Reasons Why – Jay Asher

Thirteen Reasons Why
Jay Asher
Penguin Random House UK Children’s
6th August 2009

You can’t stop the future.
You can’t rewind the past.
The only way to learn the secret . . . is to press play.

Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a strange package with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers several cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker–his classmate and crush–who committed suicide two weeks earlier. Hannah’s voice tells him that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he’ll find out why.

Clay spends the night crisscrossing his town with Hannah as his guide. He becomes a firsthand witness to Hannah’s pain, and as he follows Hannah’s recorded words throughout his town, what he discovers changes his life forever.

Review – So obviously i had heard a lot about this book due to the tv show being made from it, but me myself i like to read the book then watch the show/movie.  This book is truly thought provoking and makes you linger on all the details Hannah gives us, no matter what they may be. It is an emotional story and at times my heart ached but i also was glad i was reading a book which though it does have tough subject matter it makes you think long and hard bout people and what goes on under the surface. This sort of book as not around when i was a teen/young adult and after reading it i wish it was to make you realize that in thoughts, feelings, and events you are not alone. This book could be very difficult for some people to read, and for that the book like all stories is not for everyone. But i must say i was gripped by the story, and i have since watched the tv show, and i can say they did a great job of adapting a very detailed and complex story
